After 10th standard, students often face a confusing choice: continue with a traditional stream, or add a practical skill that starts earning early. Computer courses are one of the smartest options because they are short, affordable and directly connected to employment.

1. Computer Basics

If you have never used a computer properly, start here. A two-month foundation course teaches Windows, typing, internet, email, MS Word and Excel basics. This is the minimum digital skill expected in almost every office, shop and service job.

2. MS Office

Word, Excel and PowerPoint remain the most requested office skills. Learn to prepare reports, maintain data, make salary sheets and present confidently. Office assistant, back-office and MIS entry roles become accessible after this course.

3. Tally with GST

Commerce-minded students should consider TallyPrime with GST. Small and medium businesses always need billing and accounting support, and practical Tally skills are valued in accounts assistant and billing executive roles.

4. Graphic Design — Photoshop and CorelDRAW

If you enjoy creativity, design courses are a natural fit. Photoshop for photo editing and social media creatives, CorelDRAW for logos, cards and banners. Design skills can lead to print shop work, freelance projects and junior designer roles.

5. Computer Hardware

Students who like opening machines and solving problems can train as hardware technicians. PC assembly, Windows installation, troubleshooting and printer setup are practical skills that are always in demand locally.

How to choose

  • Choose Computer Basics if you are starting from zero.
  • Choose MS Office or Tally if you want an office/accounts job quickly.
  • Choose design software if you are creative and want portfolio work.
  • Choose hardware if you prefer hands-on technical repair work.

The best course is the one you will finish and practise. A short course with daily practice is far more valuable than a long course you attend casually.
